In June 2022 South Side High School will graduate its 100th Class of Seniors. Since opening in the fall of 1921, South Side has graduated many outstanding students who played key roles in the monumental events of the 20th century. We hope that trend continues throughout the 21 st Century. To ensure that our graduates have the resources to pursue higher education and to celebrate the school’s centennial, the South Side High School Foundation has approved a special one-time scholarship for a member of the Class of 2022.
The Centennial Scholar award will go to one graduating senior based on
1) His/her academic achievements,
2) Involvement in school and community activities,
3) Demonstration of leadership skills,
4) Demonstration of significant financial need and
5) Favorable feedback from scholarship committee interviewers, teachers and school administrators.
Our goal is to award a minimum of $2,000 annually up to 4 years to one graduating senior of the Class of 2022. In order to renew the scholarship each year, the student will need to provide proof of continued enrollment in a qualified four-year college making adequate progress toward a degree. The minimum value of this award will be $8,000. We would like to make this an even larger scholarship amount but will need your help to do so.
We are now accepting donations toward the Centennial Scholar Award. All donations accumulated from now until June 2022 will be earmarked for this scholarship. Help us make this a special Centennial event for one of our Class of 2022 graduates!
